You will need enough ingredients to make 2 standard pies of your choice. In addition you will need 6-8 4oz quilted Ball jars and some cooking spray or your choice no stick solution.
I made my pies little cherry pies, but you could make blueberry, or apple, or any other variety you would like.
To start you roll out your pie crust so it is somewhat thin. Then you will use one of your clean jars to cut out circles. You will need one circle for each jar.
Then spray the inside of each jar with non stick cooking spray or your non stick choice.
Set the jars and circles aside for right now. Next you will make larger circles with a pizza cutter, knife, or I just tore mine. You will want these circles to be about 6 inches across.
Fit one larger circle inside of each jar pressing the crust to the sides of the jar. Be sure to cover the entire inside. If you have any extra hanging over the jar simply rip it off. You may have overlaps of crust and that is okay because the crust should have been rolled pretty thin.
Next you will fill each crust with your choice of filling. Be sure to leave space for the topping and the lid to fit on.
I made a basket weave topping with the smaller circles by cutting the circle into strips and alternating them on top of the pie. One circle for each pie. You can weave them if you want, but it is more for decoration. I also topped mine with a coarse ground sugar.
If you make a raspberry or apple pie you may choose to make a crumb topping and skip the crust topping.
You can make a variety of these different pies and the whole family can have their own single serving pie.
I vacuum pack and freeze mine to eat later using a FoodSaver, but you can just freeze them. To bake these pies simply open the can, remove the lid and bake at 400 degree F for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is a nice golden color and the filling is bubbling.
You can use these jars over and over again. I recommend the Ball brand to avoid broken glass. You can purchase them at amazon.com or walmart.
