It's that time of year again. Filled with pink, red and lots of hearts. For most kids Valentine's Day means a holiday where they get cute paper cards and treats.
Well this year try something different. This will be in 2 parts and give you ideas to help you make Valentine's Day for your little one a little more creative.
First we have a great toddler - second grade idea.
Reusable Felt Envelopes
These are pretty inexpensive and simple to make. You will need:
1/2 - 1 yard of red felt
Embroidery floss in desired color
Embroider needle
Buttons (about 3/4in)
Sticky Back Dot Velcro
Time
First -
Cut the red felt into rectangles 8 x 5in. Then cut one side into a point/triangle.
Second -
Fold the bottom of your rectangle up so that it makes a shape like an envelope. You can pin it or hold it in place. You should be able to fold the bottom up about 3in.
Third -
Using your embroidery floss and needle sew up the envelope with a blanket stitch.
Fourth -
Sew on a button to the tip of your triangle. Make sure it sew it very securely
Fifth -
Attach the sticky velcro to allow your envelopes to close and open. Make sure to not use it too much within the first 24hours of sticking it.
FINALLY -
Give them to your toddler to stuff with fun valentine's for their friends.
I finished these up while watching TV and my little guy stuffed them with his Valentine's Day cards.
